About

Four houses we actually live in

Designer Stays is a small Brisbane portfolio — four restored houses in Red Hill, Wooloowin and Clayfield, plus a self-contained apartment above the garden at Red Hill. They are not investment stock dressed for photographs. They are homes that have been lived in, filled with art and furniture chosen one piece at a time, and opened up for guests.

Three are original Queenslanders — one from the 1880s, one from the 1890s, one restored with a contemporary hand. Between them they have three pools, a grand piano, several chefs' kitchens and enough beds for 43 people. All are within fifteen minutes of the CBD, and Dickson Street is a two-minute walk from a train that reaches the international airport in a single stop.

We let them through Airbnb, Booking.com and Google, but we would rather you booked with us directly. It costs you less and it means we can answer your questions ourselves.

Brisbane

Where the houses are

Red Hill

The highest point in inner Brisbane, and one of the most walkable. Suncorp Stadium is downhill; the bars and cafes of Paddington and Caxton Street are minutes away. Musgrave Road and The Loft are both here.

Wooloowin

Leafy, quiet and unusually well connected — the international airport is one train stop away, the domestic two, and the CBD is a short run in the other direction. Dickson Street is here.

Clayfield

Grand old houses on large blocks, midway between the city and the airports, with some of Brisbane's best restaurants a few minutes on foot. Junction Road is here.
